About: My grandad always called me the Little Miss Bohemia. I'm the epitomal exemple of a girl born in the wrong era. I love trees, real music, daisychains, fairtrade, guitars, writing and fashion. I write songs about meaningful nonsensicalisms and preach about social equality and political injustice.

Life Update

Had a lovely Christmas! Was actually at work on Christmas Day but I really enjoyed myself, it reaps it’s benefits! Was poorly for New Year though which wasn’t great. Caught little Philip’s flu and spent the whole night coughing and sneezing and was in bed by 12.45!

Finally dropped that god awful course at university! HOORAH! Had the intention of reapplying for the course I’m interested in and starting this September but because my withdrawal process took so long I missed the deadline and they aren’t accepting any more applications until next year so I’m currently looking for a job that will last me 18 months!

And just a final thing, have become absolutely addicted to Zumba! It’s hard work and not for the faint hearted but i seriously recommend it. I haven’t had so much fun exercising… well ever!

Studio Update

Had the first of our studio sessions yesterday and it went great! Got the main ingredients down for the first three songs and they’re all going in very different but amazing directions. ‘Cowboys & Indians’ was first and we’re all loving the sound of that one already, ‘Inside In’ is sounding very Fleetwood Mac, which for me is absolutely ideal. We just got started on ‘Satellite’ towards the end of the session but we’re envisaging it with mandolins, although still quite stripped back. We have ‘September’ lined up for tomorrow which we’re seeing going in the direction of an Elvis Costello-style song - I’m really excited for that one!
Want to say a big thank you to Mark Cocking and Rod Giles who are doing all the hard work in the production lines. If you’re in the local area and need any sort of recording or production work done, these are the guys you need to see, so get in touch with me if you would like to be put in contact!
Will check back soon with updates on what’s going on and when you can expect to hear everything we’ve been working on!

Christmas shopping is DONE! Have spent a fortune on my mum, brother and loved ones but nothing makes me more ecstatic than putting smiles on their lovely little faces. Really digging Debenhams this year. I usually find it manic and super-consumerfied at Christmas but I’ve been so busy this year that it was really convenient and quite reasonably priced in terms of offers on cosmetics and smellies. Spent a ridiculous amount in a little boutique jewellery shop called Eve for my mum, brother and two of my closest friends but I’m so excited to give them their gifts!

Where has everyone been doing their christmas shopping this year?

Anonymous asked: I'm glad you're back, I love your blog, its so natural. University is not the be all and end all, there's more to life. =) xx

that’s really sweet thank you xx

It’s been a heck of a few months! I apologise profusely for the neglect I’ve displayed since September. A number of factors are to blame for my tumblr absence, a few of them simply being the stress of being a student enrolled on a course meant for people who are dramatically more intelligent than you are, working three (now two) jobs and generally having no spare time or joy in life.
Christmas is almost upon us and I sat down to reflect the other day and I realised I’ve thrown away the latter part of 2011, my eighteenth year on the planet, being completely miserable. So here’s where I turn things around. No more wasting time trying to fit the mould and be academic, I’m going to live my dreams, whatever they may be. Newcastle University just wasn’t right for me and neither is history.

I’m a flake. That will never change.

MUST BE MY LUCKY DAY

Woke up at half past six this morning (on my day off) and switched on BBC News only to find out that Black Rhino’s have been announced extinct in the wild. I’m not one of these wild animal loving activists, but I get very upset when I hear about issues like this, where animals are hunted and murdered for their skin and body parts. I strongly disagree with the killing of animals for fur, I don’t understand why people feel the need to wear real animal skins when man made substitutes are readily available and are of extremely high quality and a fraction of the cost, but this makes me even more angry. Animals like the Black Rhino are hunted for the rare and expensive material of which their horns are made of. To these people, the worth of the lives of these endangered animals doesn’t equate to the importance of their own personal gain. I feel sick thinking about the lack of morals these people possess.

At the risk of sounding profoundly shallow, I have been cheered up by a delivery of makeup from E.L.F. I have bad skin at the minute and ordered a concealer and as I got to the checkout, I was greeted with a message telling me I’d won a prize. And so I have received a bundle of goodies and have been successfully cheered up. In an attempt to resurrect this post from the materialistic avenue it’s hurtling down, I would like to stipulate that the products available from Eyes Lips Face are in no way tested on animals, nor made from products that have been either.

I might be a bizarre-o, hippie, opinion machine, but I’m still a girl!
